Farm Support Worker

REPORTS TO: Farm Lead

SUMMARY: The Farm Support Worker assists in effective and efficient farm operation and production in accordance with high quality standards. The Farm Support Worker plays a critical role in supporting farm site sustainability and success via effective day-to-day operations.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Ensure broiler chickens are well cared for and their needs are met
  • Observe and adjust water lines, feed lines, air inlets, fans, lights, litter conditions, general environment as required
• Ensure personal adherence with company policies, procedures and high environmental and biosecurity standards to ensure the birds are kept in excellent health
• Follows health and safety policies and procedures, documenting and reporting deviations
• Identifies deviations or abnormalities (bird conditions, consumption patterns, temperatures, mortalities), sharing findings with Farm Lead
• Support general maintenance of farm equipment and machinery, light and fan systems
• Ensure farm is clean, operational and productive
  • Removes manure from barns
  • Disinfects
  • Implements bug and pest control
  • Walks barns for mortality and drives skid steers to remove carcasses
  • Pressure washes inside of the barns
  • Provides general farm site lawn / land care (e.g. mow lawn, spray weeds, plow snow in the winter)

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:

• 1 year + of experience working in a farm support capacity
• Absolutely must understand and carry out biosecurity and be willing to sign off that they have no contact with poultry / birds offsite or waterfowl of any kind. Zero tolerance for by-passing biosecurity measures.
• Drivers license
• Owner’s mindset in identifying and analyzing challenges, working with a team to resolve
• Ability to produce precise, consistent work requiring patience and a willingness to handle and complete one task at a time
• Ability to produce high quality work based on established standards, guidelines and procedures
• Ability to work in a stable environment with structured step-by-step training and positive coaching from leadership and peers

• Dirty, muddy, and odorous conditions
